5 Ways Busy Moms Can Overcome The Fear Of Building A Home Based Business

As a busy mom myself, I know how crazy life can get. Women who are raising children wear many hats, from taxi cab driver to career professional to caretaker of a chaotic home to meal planner to errand runner (and this is just scratching the surface).

So I get how easy it is to say “but how would I fit in running a home based business on top of everything else I do?!” but with my own thriving home based business I speak from years of experience when I say it’s all about perspective.

When I started my own home based business several years ago I was working a full time job and taking care of a family but I also had bigger goals and dreams that I wanted to accomplish for myself and my family that I could not accomplish with a traditional job. I wanted to be in control of my time while having a way to increase my income. A side business from home was the most logical answer.

If you have been wanting to start your own home based business but are letting excuses and objections hold you back, here are 5 tips to help you overcome your fears.

Change Your Mindset

I too had the same concern in the beginning, wondering how I would fit it all in but the beauty of having your own business is being able to work when you want and how you want unlike a traditional j.o.b. Starting a business means you have to change your mindset and taking ownership that you now call the shots as The Bossy Beauty of Y.O.U. Yes, what you put into your business is what you will get out of it but at the end of the day you control the when, where and how. I started out building my business very part-time for 2.5 years and worked my way into building it full time.

Throw ‘Having Balance’ Out The Window

If you are already feeling like you are failing at having balance in your life, starting a business will feel like Mission Impossible so it’s best to just let go of that now. Having balance is really a comical concept for any mom as our daily lives are highly unpredictable. It’s not about trying to balance everything equally, it’s about knowing what is and what is not a priority in your life. My business is a priority for me behind my faith and my family, therefore, I treat it as such.

Weave Your Priorities Together

Instead of constantly striving to feel like your life has balance, learn how to weave the different aspects of your life together. Think about the amount of time you spend scrolling your social media newsfeed on a daily basis for no other purpose than to just see what all your friends and family are doing. With a business, the time you are spending on social media could now be making you an income. As a business owner, you learn to be more intentional with your time because you now have the mindset that time is money. If you only have 15 minutes to work our business in the morning, have a plan and make that time count.

There Is Never A ‘Good Time’

This is one of those things that people say without even thinking about it, like is there ever really a ‘good time’ in our lives to do the things we want to do? Is there ever a ‘good time’ to buy a home, get married, have children, start a new job? Starting a business is one of those of things that you will never have everything in your life perfectly aligned, you just have to take a deep breath, a leap of faith and build your wings on the way down. Letting go of the need to have it all figured out first and trusting in your God given abilities believing that you are capable of achieving amazing things.

You Are Stronger Than You Think

I find in my own life and the many women that I work with in my Bossy Beauty Tribe, that we often don’t give ourselves enough credit. We go through our day constantly putting out fires for others and dealing with crises that seem to fall right out of the sky into our lap but we question our ability to run a business when in reality, women are pretty darn amazing nurtures and networkers. I have no doubt that if you put your mind to it and your heart behind it to start a side business, you would rock it!

I hope these tips have inspired you to take a closer look at building a home base business to reach the goals and dreams you have for your life because you deserve to achieve it all and more!
